Pack your Santa hat and put ‘Silent Night’ on repeat, we’re getting ready to kick off the season with Surrey’s annual Tree Lighting Festival! This free, family-friendly event is filled with amusement rides, a Holiday Market, and all things bright and merry. What’s in store at Surrey’s cheeriest festival? We’re glad you asked…
One of the most magical aspects of the holiday season is all the beautiful bright lights. From intricate home-displays to streets lined with lights, there’s a certain glow that just warms your heart on a chilly evening. Now we’re not saying that the bigger the display, the more holiday spirit, but if that were the case, Surrey might just be the merriest city of all! The marquee event at Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival is the official lighting of Surrey’s 60 foot Christmas Tree, which just so happens to be one of the largest in Canada! The lights illuminate at 6:30 pm sharp, so join in on the countdown and bask in the beauty.
This year’s musical performances are fit for the season, and this diverse group of entertainers will be on stage throughout the day to get you in a holiday frame of mind. This year’s performers include Begonia. Leisure Club, Hotel Mira, Dreams – The Ultimate Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, Turunesh, Glass Forest, Antonio Larosa, The Kwerks, Réjean Bussières, La Trompette de Noël, the Malcolm Aiken Trio and the Westcoast Harmony Chorus.
If it’s family fun and a whole lot of holiday cheer you’re searching for, Surrey’s Tree Lighting Festival is sure to get your heart bursting with all the holiday feels, no matter what Winter season memories you hold dear to your heart. Partake in a little shinny, as sticks will be provided for some good, old fashioned road hockey, or bring the kiddos on the Mini Christmas Train. Take a stroll down memory lane and create holiday-themed crafts with the Downtown Surrey BIA. And for the ultimate Christmas selfie, the Holiday Fun Zone has a sparkling light tunnel, enchanted forest and a giant Light Brite!
If you’ve got a tot who’s been itching it sit on Santa’s lap, you’re in luck. Not only will THE Kris Kringle be making a cameo, but he’ll also be making himself available for photos, what a Saint!
